Saawan is a month dedicated for worship of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati. It will be celebrated from 4 July 2023 to 31 August 2023 in this year 2023.

Due to astrological reasons, this year saawan month will extend for 58 days which is happening after 2 decades. This is due to because 2023 is having one extra month i.e malmaas month. So, instead of 4 Mondays and 4 Tuesdays there will be 8 Mondays and 8 Tuesdays in 2023.

Mondays are dedicated to Lord Shiva and Tuesdays are dedicated to Mata Parvati in the month of Saawan.

This date is followed mainly in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar and Chhattisgarh and other North Indian states. A month in these regions is calculated from the day after Purnima or full moon to the next Purnima.
