Every month there are two Chaturthi, one is Krishna Paksha Chaturthi and second is Shukla Paksh Chaturthi. In every month Shukla Paksh Chaturthi is celebrated as Vinayak Chaturthi.
On this day devotees offer worship and observe fasting to get blessings from Lord Ganesha for prosperity, wealth, wisdom, good luck and knowledge. On this day Siddhivinayak form of Ganapati is worshipped. Those who worship this form of Ganapati their all tasks get completed and they get success in their work.

Vinayak Chaturthi Vrat Puja Vidhi:

• On this day wake up early and take bath. Wear yellow or red cloth on this day.

• Clean the puja place of home and place the ganapati photo on wooden frame with red or yellow cloth on it.

• Do abhishek of Lord Ganesha with panchamrit and water. 

• Then offer him sindur. 

• Do panchopachar puja. Offer him durva, fruits, flowers and sweets etc.

• Light up a ghee diya and a aromatic inscence or dhoop.

• Read Vinayak Chaturthi Vrat Katha.

• Chant Ganapati Mantra "Om Gam Ganpatye Namah" 108 times.

• Recite Sankat Nashan Ganesh Stotram.

• Do arati.

• Then have fruits and milk. 

• On the next day of Panchami Tithi, break the fast.

नारद उवाच -
प्रणम्यं शिरसा देव गौरीपुत्रं विनायकम ।
भक्तावासं: स्मरैनित्यंमायु:कामार्थसिद्धये ॥1॥
प्रथमं वक्रतुंडंच एकदंतं द्वितीयकम ।
तृतीयं कृष्णं पिङा्क्षं गजवक्त्रं चतुर्थकम ॥2॥
लम्बोदरं पंचमं च षष्ठं विकटमेव च ।
सप्तमं विघ्नराजेन्द्रं धूम्रवर्ण तथाष्टकम् ॥3॥
नवमं भालचन्द्रं च दशमं तु विनायकम ।
एकादशं गणपतिं द्वादशं तु गजाननम ॥4॥
द्वादशैतानि नामानि त्रिसंध्य य: पठेन्नर: ।
न च विघ्नभयं तस्य सर्वासिद्धिकरं प्रभो ॥5॥
विद्यार्थी लभते विद्यां धनार्थी लभते धनम् ।
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान् मोक्षार्थी लभते गतिम् ॥6॥
जपेद्वगणपतिस्तोत्रं षड्भिर्मासै: फलं लभेत् ।
संवत्सरेण सिद्धिं च लभते नात्र संशय: ॥7॥
अष्टभ्यो ब्राह्मणेभ्यश्च लिखित्वां य: समर्पयेत ।
तस्य विद्या भवेत्सर्वा गणेशस्य प्रसादत: ॥8॥
॥ इति श्रीनारदपुराणे संकष्टनाशनं गणेशस्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम्‌ ॥

Remedies done on Vinayak Chaturthi:

• On the day of Vinayak Chaturthi worship of Shwetaark Ganapati increases the wealth and happiness. Worshipping Shwetaark Ganapati gives strength to Mercury in horoscope. 
• Lord Ganesha loves Durva, offering durva to Ganapati on this day brings wealth and happiness.
• For the problem of debt: Bring photo of Ganapati with mushak. Keeping this type of photo of Ganapati in home removes the debt.
• For solving financial problems: Light up a four sided diya. By doing so one gets rid of all the difficulties.
• For gaining intelligence and higher education: Students should chant "Om Gam Ganapatye Namah" 108 times. 
• For destroying every hurdles and difficulties: Chant "Om Ekdantaaye Vidmahe Vakratundaaye Dheemahi Tanno Danti Prachodayat"
• On the day of Vinayak Chaturthi, offer 5 pieces of yellow Turmeric to Ganapati and sprinkle haldi mixed with water on 108 durva grass then offer this durva grass to Lord Ganapati by chanting "Om Ganadhipatye Namah". This should be done for 10 days. By doing this finance start to increase and chances of promotion in job increases.
• For fulfilling wishes: Offer durva with 21 round pieces of gud on Vinayak Chaturthi Day. By doing so Lord Ganapati become happy soon and wishes of devotees become fulfilled.
• For removing obstacles: Chant "Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samaprabha, Nirvighnam Kurume Dev Sarwa Karyeshu Sarwada".
• For promotion in Job and business: Put a photo of standing Lord Ganesha and his feet should be touching the ground. This type of photo in business area always gives benefit.

Vinayak Chaturthi Vrat Katha:

विनायक चतुर्थी व्रत की पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार एक बार भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती नर्मदा नदी के किनारे बैठे थे। माता पार्वती ने शिव जी से चौपड़ खेलने के लिए कहा। इस खेल में हार-जीत का फैसला करने के लिए भगवान शिव ने कुछ तिनके एकत्रित कर उसका एक पुतला बनाकर उसकी प्राण-प्रतिष्ठा कर दी। भगवान शिव ने उस पुतले से कहा कि 'बेटा, हम चौपड़ खेलना चाहते हैं, इसीलिए तुम बताना कि हम दोनों में से कौन हारा और कौन जीता?'

उसके बाद भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती के बीच खेल का प्रारंभ हो गया। यह खेल 3 बार खेला गया और तीनों ही बार माता पार्वती जीत गईं। खेल समाप्त होने पर उस बालक से हार-जीत का फैसला करने के लिए कहा, तो उस बालक ने पार्वती माता की जगह महादेव को विजयी बताया।

यह सुनकर माता पार्वती क्रोधित हो गईं और उन्होंने बालक को लंगड़ा होने और कीचड़ में पड़े रहने का श्राप दे दिया। बालक ने माता पार्वती से माफी मांते हुए कहा कि माता मुझसे अज्ञानतावश ऐसा हुआ है।

बालक द्वारा क्षमा मांगने पर माता का दिल पिघल गया उन्होंने कहा- 'यहां गणेश पूजन के लिए नागकन्याएं आएंगी, उनके कहे अनुसार गणेश व्रत करो, ऐसा करने से तुम्हारे कष्ट दूर होंगे' यह कहकर माता पार्वती चली गईं।

एक वर्ष के बाद उस स्थान पर नागकन्याएं आईं, नागकन्याओं से भगवान गणेश के व्रत की विधि जानने के बाद बालक ने 21 दिन लगातार गणेशजी का व्रत किया। जिसके परिणामस्वरूप गणेशजी प्रसन्न हुए। उन्होंने बालक को मनोवांछित फल मांगने के लिए कहा।

बालक ने कहा- 'हे विनायक! मुझे इतनी शक्ति दीजिए कि मैं अपने पैरों से चलकर कैलाश पर्वत पर पहुंच सकूं'। भगवान गणेश ने बालक को वरदान दे दिया। इसके बाद वह बालक कैलाश पर्वत पर पहुंचा और उसने अपनी कथा भगवान शिव को सुनाई।

चौपड़ वाले दिन से माता पार्वती शिवजी से नाराज हो गई थीं। देवी को मनाने के लिए भगवान शिव ने भी बालक के बताए अनुसार 21 दिनों तक भगवान गणेश का व्रत किया। इस व्रत के प्रभाव से माता पार्वती की नाराजगी दूर हो गई और वो स्वयं भगवान शिव से मिलने पहुंच गईं।

तब भगवान शंकर ने माता पार्वती को इस व्रत के बारे में बताया। यह सुनकर माता पार्वती के मन में अपने पुत्र कार्तिकेय से मिलने की इच्छा जागृत हुई। तब माता पार्वती ने भी 21 दिन तक श्री गणेश का व्रत किया। व्रत के 21वें दिन कार्तिकेय स्वयं माता पार्वतीजी से मिलने चले आए। तभी से ये व्रत समस्त मनोकामनाओं की पूर्ति करने वाला व्रत माना जाता है।

Adhik Maas is getting started from 18 July 2023 and it ends on 16 August 2023. In this year Adhik Maas came in the month of Saawan and this happened after 19 years.

This month comes after every three years. Lord Vishnu is worshipped in Adhik Maas. This is also known as Purushottam Maas or Malmaas. In this month people read religious books and donate them also.

Worship of Shaligram In Adhik Maas has it’s significance. Light up a lamp of ghee near Shaligram Devta daily. By doing so devotees get unbroken luck. Reading 14th chapter of Bhagwadgeeta removes hurdles in work and job. People worship Lord Vishnu in this month of Adhik Maas and get rid of problems and hurdles coming in their work, job, education, difficult situations in life, loss in business and difficulties etc.

In this year Adhik Maas is coming in the month of Saawan so Lord Shiva will be worshipped with Lord Vishnu.

How Adhik Maas is formed:

Sun takes 30.44 days to cross one zodiac sign. There are 12 zodiac signs, so Sun takes 30.44*12=365.28 days to complete one round of all the zodiac signs. Therefore in a Solar year there are 365.28 days.

Moon takes 29.53 days for one new moon to next new moon. So, there are 12 new moon in a year. According to this, the number of days in a month are 29.53*12=354.36. In one lunar year there are 354.36 days.

There is a difference of 10.92 days (365.28-354.36) between Solar year and a lunar year. To adjust this difference there is an extra month after every 32 months 15 days called Adhik Maas. So, Adhik maas comes approximately after every 3 years. Adhik Maas rectifies the misalignment of difference between Solar Year and Lunar Year.

Every month Sun crosses one zodiac sign but in Adhik Maas the Sun don’t cross one zodiac sign and there is no Maasik Sankranti in Adhik Maas. So, this month is not considered auspicious as Eclipse like atmosphere is there. So, many auspicious activities don’t take place in this month and the whole month is dedicated for offering worship, yagya, anushthaan, mantra chanting, deepdaan, charity, visiting to pilgrimages, reading religious scriptures etc.

This month carries unique spiritual practices.

Adhik Maas is Favourite month of Lord Vishnu

Adhik Maas is favourite month of Lord Vishnu. It is said that when name was being given to the months then Adhik Maas was sad and he was thinking that people will consider him as non significant. Then Lord Vishnu said that you will be my favourite and your name will be Purushottam Maas as this is my name and I will be the Lord of this month. Lord Vishnu said that doing maanglik activities will not be auspicious but some activities which are connected with me will be considered very auspicious.

Activities which is not auspicious in Adhik Maas:

• Marriages are not done in this month.
• Mundan is not organized in this month.
• New business is not started in Adhik Maas.
• Vrat which are starting from first time should not be started from this month.
• House Warming is also not done in Adhik Maas.
• Ear piercing is also prohibited in Adhik Maas.

Activities that must be done in Adhik Maas:

• Worship of Satyanarayan Bhagwaan: In Purushottam month worship of Lord Hari or Lord Vishnu is considered very auspicious. Offering worship to Lord Vishnu in Adhik Maas makes Mata Lakshmi happy and she gives blessings of prosperity, wealth and happiness.
• Chanting Mahamrityunjay Mantra: In Adhik Maas chanting of Mahamrityunjay Mantra is fruitful and considered best. Take the Sankalp of chanting this mantra from any Purohit and chant this mantra daily. This will remove all grah-dosha and brings positive energy in home.
• Yagya and Anushthaan: Adhik Maas is best for doing yagya and anushthaan. It is said that yagya and anusthaan done in Purushottam Maas is fully fruitful and the person gets his wishes fulfilled.
• Visiting Brajbhoomi: It is written in Puran that in Adhik Maas all the incarnation of Lord Vishnu is worshipped. People go to visit all the places of Lord Vishnu in this month.
• Deepdaan: In Purushottam Month one should do Deepdaan which has a great importance. Those who do Akhand deep near god for this entire month gets blessings of Mata Lakshmi.
• Chanting and reading religious text: In Purushottam Maas one should do Bhagwadgeeta paath, listen Katha, reciting Vishnusahasranama, Shree Ram Raksha Stotra, Purush Sukt, chanting mantra like “Om Namo Narayana” and “Om Namo Bhagwate Vaasudevaay” gives blessings of Lord Vishnu.
• Holy Bath: One should take bath in Tirth places or holy river like Ganga, Yamuna, Narmada, Godavari etc. If this is not possible then one should mix Ganga Jal in the bath water.

Importance of Deepdaan in Adhik Maas:

Deepdaan in Adhik Maas has more virtue than taking bath in Tirtha places. It gives child to childless, prosperity and wealth. Those who is facing problem in doing marriage they should do Adhik Maas deepdaan to Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna or Lord Ram. Those who have difficulty in studies they should do deepdaan in this month. Those who want moksha they should do deepdaan in Adhik maas. Those who do akhand deepdaan for one month of Adhik maas they gain virtue which can’t be imagined.

Importance of Adhik Maas:

Doing jap-tap, worship, donations, anushthaan without asking to fulfil any desire from God is very important in this month. Helping the helpless people, old age people, donating grains and clothes in Old age home, donating books to students and donating religious books to saint, donating warm clothes for winter is considered very fruitful in Adhik Maas. Virtue of doing these things are always with the person from this life to all the next births. Adhik Maas comes after every 3 years so one should take advantage of this month by doing these activities. Some people eat only one time in a day, while some people eat only in night in Adhik Maas. Eating everyday at the same time and by keeping maun increases the strength and it removes the sin. One should take bath in Tirth or take holy bath. At least one should donate on Shukla and krishna Dwadashi, Purnima, Krishna Ashtami, Navami, Chaturdashi, Amavasya Tithi and on yogas like Vyatipaat or Vaidhriti.

This whole month is for offering worship to Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna, Lord Rama and chanting. Donating Paan for entire month gives good fortune. One should worship cow and feed them green grass.

Donations has it’s own Significance:

One should donate grains, money, shoes, slippers, clothes, umbrella etc in this month. In Shiv mandir one should donate Chandan, abeer, flowers, bilva patra, milk, curd, ghee, janeu etc.

Adhik maas vrat katha

एक बार राजा दृढंधन्वा ने ऋषि वाल्मीकि से पूछा की अधिक मास में दीपदान करने का क्या महत्व है ? और इससे कौन सा पुण्य प्राप्त होता है ? तब ऋषि वाल्मीकि ने राजा से कहा की मैं आपको एक कथा सुनाता हूं जो राजा चित्रबाहू के पूर्व जन्म से संबंधित है।

एक समय पर सौभाग्य नगर नाम का राज्य हुआ करता था उस राज्य में सुख शांति और समृद्धि सभी कुछ था। उस राज्य का राजा चित्रबाहू हुआ करता था जो शरीर से जितना शक्तिशाली था मन से उतना ही दयालु था जिसे ना सिर्फ धर्म का ज्ञान था बल्कि वह उसका अनुसरण भी करता था।

एक बार अगस्त्यमुनि उसके राज्य में पहुंचे और तब चित्रबाहू ने उनका आदर-सत्कार किया तथा उनकी सेवा की तत्पश्चात उन्होंने अगस्त्यमुनि से यह प्रश्न किया कि मेरे राज्य में जो सुख शांति एवं समृद्धि है इसका क्या कारण है ऐसा कौन सा पुण्य है जिसकी वजह से यह सब वैभव है?

मुनि बोले अपने पूर्व जन्म में तुम प्राणियों का शिकार करते थे और तुम्हारा नाम मणिग्रीव हुआ करता था। तुम स्वभाव से नास्तिक थे और चरित्र से दुष्ट, दूसरों के साथ बुरा व्यवहार करते थे और पराई स्त्रियों के साथ तुम्हारे संबंध थे। तुम्हारे इसी आचरण के कारण तुम्हारे जाति के लोगों ने तुम्हारा बहिष्कार कर दिया।

इस जन्म में जो तुम्हारी पत्नी चंद्रकला है वही पिछले जन्म में भी तुम्हारी पत्नी सुंदरी थी जिसने हमेशा तुम्हारी सेवा की और अपना धर्म निभाया। एक बार वहां के राजा ने तुम से क्रोधित होकर तुम्हारा ज्यादातर धन ले लिया और बचा कुचा तुम्हारे जाति वालों ने लूट लिया और तुम कंगाल हो गए लेकिन ऐसी हालत में भी तुम्हारी इस पतिव्रता पत्नी ने तुम्हारा साथ नहीं छोड़ा।

इसके बाद तुम अपनी पत्नी के साथ जंगल में चले गए और वहां पर पशुओं को मार कर अपना जीवन यापन करने लगे। और इसी तरह एक दिन शिकार करने के लिए तुम जंगल में गए जहां पर एक उग्रदेव नाम का ब्राह्मण मूर्छित अवस्था में तुम्हें मिला जो रास्ता भटक गया था तुम उन्हें उठाकर अपने घर ले गए।

तुम दोनों पति पत्नी ने उस ब्राह्मण की सेवा करके उसे ठीक कर दिया होश में आने पर उन्हें आश्चर्य हुआ कि मुझे यहां कौन लाया। फिर मणिग्रीव उन्हें लेकर तालाब पर गया और कहा कि आप नहा लीजिए और उसके बाद फलाहार कर के जल ग्रहण कीजिए।

मणिग्रीव और उसकी पत्नी ने उग्रदेव का आदर सत्कार किया और उन्हें प्रणाम किया और फिर उन्हें फल प्रदान किए इस पर उग्रदेव ने कहा कि मैं आपको नहीं जानता इसलिए कृपा कर अपना परिचय दीजिए ताकि मैं यह फल ग्रहण कर सकूं।

मणिग्रीव के परिचय देने के बाद उग्रदेव ने फल ग्रहण किए और कुछ देर आराम किया मणिग्रीव ने उनकी सेवा की और पूछा कि आप इस जंगल में कैसे आए और आप कहां जा रहे थे तब उग्रदेव ने बताया कि वह प्रयाग जा रहे थे और रास्ता भटक गए थे।

उग्रदेव ने उन दोनों पति-पत्नी की सेवा से प्रसन्न होकर उनसे कहा कि तुम दोनों ने मेरी इतनी सेवा की है बताओ मैं तुम्हें क्या दूं और यह प्रश्न भी किया कि तुम दोनों इस जंगल में क्यों रह रहे हो?

तब मणिग्रीव ने अपने भयंकर कर्मों और पापों के बारे में उन्हें बताया और इस दरिद्रता से निकलने के लिए और वैभव को पाने के लिए उपाय पूछा।

उग्रदेव ने कहा कि तुम दोनों ने जो मेरा आदर सत्कार किया है उस कारण मैं तुम्हें ऐसा उपाय बताता हूं जिससे कि बिना तीर्थ में गए बिना दान किए या बिना किसी व्रत के तुम्हारी गरीबी दूर हो जाएगी। तो सुनो अब से 3 महीने बाद जो अधिक मास आएगा उसमें तुम दोनों पति पत्नी भगवान श्री कृष्ण अर्थात पुरुषोत्तम भगवान को प्रसन्न करने के लिए दीपदान करना जिससे तुम्हारी गरीबी जड़ से खत्म हो जाएगी।

तिल के तेल से दीप दान करना चाहिए अगर वह नहीं हो तो घी से दीप दान करना चाहिए लेकिन इस जंगल में तुम्हारे पास यह दोनों नहीं है इसलिए तुम महीना भर इंगुदी के तेल से दीपदान करना। हर रोज नहाने के बाद तुम दोनों पति पत्नी इस जंगल में दीपदान करना इससे तुम्हें लक्ष्मी की प्राप्ति होगी।

जितने भी तरह के दान है या तीर्थ स्थान है या ज्ञान है या व्रत है वे पुरुषोत्तम मास में किए गए दीपदान के सोलहवीं कला के बराबर भी नहीं है। इससे धन-धान्य ऐश्वर्या पुत्र पौत्र एवं समृद्धि प्राप्त होती है। यह निसंतान को संतान, राजा को उसका राज्य, सौभाग्य एवं मनुष्य को उसकी इच्छा अनुसार फल देता है।

जिस भी स्त्री या पुरुष के विवाह में देरी हो रही है या कोई अड़चन आ रही है अगर किसी की पढ़ाई में कोई परेशानी आ रही है या कोई मोक्ष पाना चाहता है उन सभी को यह उपाय करना चाहिए।

इस तरह मुनि ने चित्रबहु से कहा कि पिछले जन्म में तुमने और तुम्हारी पत्नी ने जो इंगुदी के तेल से पुरुषोत्तम मास में दीपदान किया था उसी कारण तुम्हें यह समृद्ध राज्य प्राप्त हुआ है। अगर कोई संपूर्ण मास में अखंड दीप दान करता है या व्रत करता है तो उसके पुण्य की कल्पना भी नहीं की जा सकती।

Amavasya which comes in Saawan is also known as Shrawani Amavasya or Hariyali Amavasya. In 2023 Amavasya falls on Monday, so it is called Somvati Amavasya.

Somvati Amavasya Date:

17 July 2023, Monday

Amavasya Tithi starts from 10:08 PM on 16 July 2023

Amavasya Tithi ends on 12:01 AM on 18 July 2023

This day is important for offering prayers for Pitra Devta and doing pinda daan, trapan, donations. On Somvati Amavasya, Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati is worshipped after bath and donations.

This day is considered very good for getting rid of Pitra Dosh. On this day Pitra Devta becomes happy by doing some easy remedies.

Somvati Amavasya Puja vidhi:

• On this day people take bath in holy river if possible. Otherwise pour some Ganga Jal and black til in bathing water and then take bath.
• Give arghya to Surya dev in morning.
• Do panchopachar worship of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati.
• Do rudrabhishek. By worshipping Lord Shiva and rudrabhishek moon gets strong.
• Offer water mix with raw milk, gud and black til to the Peepal tree. Then light a oil lamp below the Peepal tree.
• Chant Gayatri mantra.
• Do pinda daan, tarpan to Pitra devtaas.
• Donate food and clothes to poor and needy people.
• Take panchbali and feed Bramhins, cow, crow, dog and black ants.
• On this day read bhagwadgeeta and give it’s punya to the Pitra devtas.
• Puja of Mata Lakshmi is also considered very fruitful on Somvati Amavasya day.

Benefits and importance of Somvati Amavasya:

• Somvati Amavasya comes 2 to 3 times in a year. It is considered very auspicious to offer prayers to Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati.
• People offer prayers to their Pitra Devta on this day by doing pinda daan, tarpan and panchabali. This removes Pitra Dosha from their horoscope.
• Vrat on this day removes past sins and past good karmas gives their good result and wishes comes true.

Remedy for Pitra Dosh on Somvati Amavasya:

• On this day wake up early and take holy bath either in river or at home. Give arghya to Surya Dev. Then give Tarpan to Pitra devta. Then chant Shiv Gayatri Mantra 108 times either in morning or in evening. Shiv Gayatri Mantra is “Om Tatpurushay Vidmahe, Mahadevaya Dhimahi Tanno Rudra Prachodayaat”. Chanting this gayatri mantra gives blessings of Lord Shiva and we get rid of Pitra Dosh. Do Vrat for Pitra Shaanti and give doantions to poor.
• Planting of Peepal, Vat, Nimbu, Tulsi, Banana Tree, Aawala Tree is considered very auspicious. Worship Peepal tree today and offer diya with til oil and wick of janeu.
• On this day do 108 Parikrama of Peepal Tree by chanting “Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaay”. By doing this remedy Pitra Devta becomes happy.
• Feeding round balls made up of wheat flour to fish in pond or river is considered very good and Pitra Devta give their blessings and we get happiness and prosperity in life.

Remedy for removing poverty from house and getting financial gains on Somvati Amavasya:

• On the day of Somvati Amavasya wake up early and take bath. Wear clean clothes. Then offer arghya to Surya Dev. Mix Red Chandan and gud in water and offer this water to the Sun. After that worship Tulsi Ji. Give water in Tulsi Ji and offer raw milk also and light up a ghee diya near the Tulsi Ji. Do 108 parikrama of Tulsi Ji. Take little bit of Tulsi Ji soil and do tilak on your forehead. In evening also light up a ghee diya under the Tulsi Ji. Doing this remedy will remove poverty from the house and person will get gains in finances.
• On Somvati Amavasya day offer prayers to Lord Vishnu and Peepal tree. Put 108 fruits below the Peepal tree. Then do 108 parikrama of Peepal Tree. In first 8 parikrama tie thread 8 times on Peepal tree. On completing 108 parikrama distribute all fruits in Bramhin. The person will get blessed with finances by the blessing of Lord Vishnu.
• On Somvati Amavasya day light up a ghee diya in the Ishaan Kon. Put red colour of wick in it made up of mauli. Put kesar in diya. Doing so Mata Lakshmi get happy and the person gets blessing of money, wealth and finances.

Remedy for removing difficulties from your life on Somvati Amavasya:

• On Somvati Amavasya Day feed sugar mix flour. It removes hurdles and difficulties from life and it brings unity in the family. This also removes past sins and past good karmas gives good result. Due to these past good karmas wishes gets fulfilled.

Remedy for removing negativity from the house on Somvati Amavasya:

• Put 50 grams of rock salt in water and clean the house from this water. All negativites will be removed from the house.

Remedy for getting job on Somvati Amavasya:

• Take one lemon on the morning of Somvati Amavasya date and put it in puja place of house. Then in night make seven rounds from your head and make four parts of this lemon. Then take these parts of lemon to the chauraha and throw them in four directions. Then come home without looking back. By doing this upaay person gets the job quickly.

What to do in Somvati Amavasya:

• Give panchbali: Feed to Bramhin, cow, crow, dog and black ants.
• Do worship of Peepal Tree. Light a diya of til oil and put some black til in diya.

अर्चितानाममूर्तानां पितृणां दीप्ततेजसाम्।
नमस्यामि सदा तेषां ध्यानिनां दिव्यचक्षुषाम्।।

हिन्दी अर्थ– जो सबके द्वारा पूजित, अमूर्त, अत्यन्त तेजस्वी, ध्यानी तथा दिव्यदृष्टि सम्पन्न है। उन पितरों को मैं सदा नमस्कार करता हूं।

इन्द्रादीनां च नेतारो दक्षमारीचयोस्तथा।
सप्तर्षीणां तथान्येषां तान् नमस्यामि कामदान्।।

हिन्दी अर्थ– जो इन्द्र आदि देवताओं, दक्ष, मारीच, सप्तर्षियों तथा दूसरों के भी नेता है, कामना की पूर्ति करने वाले उन पितरो को मैं प्रणाम करता हूं।

मन्वादीनां च नेतार: सूर्याचन्दमसोस्तथा।
तान् नमस्यामहं सर्वान् पितृनप्युदधावपि।।

हिन्दी अर्थ– जो मनु आदि राजर्षियों, मुनिश्वरों तथा सूर्य और चन्द्रमा के भी नायक है। उन समस्त पितरों को मैं जल और समुद्र में भी नमस्कार करता हूं।

नक्षत्राणां ग्रहाणां च वाय्वग्न्योर्नभसस्तथा।
द्यावापृथिवोव्योश्च तथा नमस्यामि कृताञ्जलि:।।

हिन्दी अर्थ– नक्षत्रों, ग्रहों, वायु, अग्नि, आकाश और द्युलोक तथा पृथ्वी के भी जो नेता हैं, उन पितरों को मैं हाथ जोड़कर प्रणाम करता हूं।

देवर्षीणां जनितृंश्च सर्वलोकनमस्कृतान्।
अक्षय्यस्य सदा दातृन् नमस्येहं कृताञ्जलि:।।

हिन्दी अर्थ– जो देवर्षियों के जन्मदाता, समस्त लोकों द्वारा वन्दित तथा सदा अक्षय फल के दाता हैं, उन पितरों को मैं हाथ जोड़कर प्रणाम करता हूं।

प्रजापते: कश्पाय सोमाय वरुणाय च।
योगेश्वरेभ्यश्च सदा नमस्यामि कृताञ्जलि:।।

हिन्दी अर्थ– प्रजापति, कश्यप, सोम, वरूण तथा योगेश्वरों के रूप में स्थित पितरों को सदा हाथ जोड़कर प्रणाम करता हूं।

नमो गणेभ्य: सप्तभ्यस्तथा लोकेषु सप्तसु।
स्वयम्भुवे नमस्यामि ब्रह्मणे योगचक्षुषे।।

हिन्दी अर्थ– सातों लोकों में स्थित सात पितृगणों को नमस्कार है। मैं योगदृष्टिसम्पन्न स्वयम्भू ब्रह्माजी को प्रणाम करता हूं।

सोमाधारान् पितृगणान् योगमूर्तिधरांस्तथा।
नमस्यामि तथा सोमं पितरं जगतामहम्।।

हिन्दी अर्थ– चन्द्रमा के आधार पर प्रतिष्ठित तथा योगमूर्तिधारी पितृगणों को मैं प्रणाम करता हूं। साथ ही सम्पूर्ण जगत् के पिता सोम को नमस्कार करता हूं।

अग्रिरूपांस्तथैवान्यान् नमस्यामि पितृनहम्।
अग्रीषोममयं विश्वं यत एतदशेषत:।।

हिन्दी अर्थ– अग्निस्वरूप अन्य पितरों को मैं प्रणाम करता हूं, क्योंकि यह सम्पूर्ण जगत् अग्नि और सोममय है।

ये तु तेजसि ये चैते सोमसूर्याग्रिमूर्तय:।
जगत्स्वरूपिणश्चैव तथा ब्रह्मस्वरूपिण:।।

तेभ्योखिलेभ्यो योगिभ्य: पितृभ्यो यतामनस:।
नमो नमो नमस्तेस्तु प्रसीदन्तु स्वधाभुज।।

हिन्दी अर्थ– जो पितर तेज में स्थित हैं, जो ये चन्द्रमा, सूर्य और अग्नि के रूप में दृष्टिगोचर होते हैं तथा जो जगत्स्वरूप एवं ब्रह्मस्वरूप हैं, उन सम्पूर्ण योगी पितरो को मैं एकाग्रचित्त होकर प्रणाम करता हूं। उन्हें बारम्बार नमस्कार है। वे स्वधाभोजी पितर मुझपर प्रसन्न हो।

पितृसूक्त – Pitru Suktam

अमावस्या हो या पूर्णिमा अथवा श्राद्ध पक्ष के दिनों में संध्या के समय तेल का दीपक जलाकर पितृ-सूक्तम् का पाठ करने से पितृदोष की शांति होती है और सर्वबाधा दूर होकर उन्नति की प्राप्ति होती है।

पितृसूक्त ॥ Pitru Suktam

उदीरतामवर उत्परास उन्मध्यमा: पितर: सोम्यास:।
असुं य ईयुरवृका ऋतज्ञास्ते नोsवन्तु पितरो हवेषु ।।
अंगिरसो न: पितरो नवग्वा अथर्वाणो भृगव: सोम्यास:।
तेषां वयँ सुमतौ यज्ञियानामपि भद्रे सौमनसे स्याम ।।
ये न: पूर्वे पितर: सोम्यासोsनूहिरे सोमपीथं वसिष्ठा:।
तोभिर्यम: सँ रराणो हवीँ ष्युशन्नुशद्भि: प्रतिकाममत्तु ।।

त्वँ सोम प्र चिकितो मनीषा त्वँ रजिष्ठमनु नेषि पन्थाम् ।
तव प्रणीती पितरो न इन्दो देवेषु रत्नमभजन्त धीरा: ।।

मा हिंसिष्ट पितरः केन चिन्नो यद्व आगः पुरूषता कराम॥14॥
आसीनासोऽ अरूणीनाम् उपस्थे रयिम् धत्त दाशुषे मर्त्याय।
पुत्रेभ्यः पितरः तस्य वस्वः प्रयच्छत तऽ इह ऊर्जम् दधात॥15॥

पितृ कवचः ॥ Pitru Kavacham

कृणुष्व पाजः प्रसितिम् न पृथ्वीम् याही राजेव अमवान् इभेन ।
तृष्वीम् अनु प्रसितिम् द्रूणानो अस्ता असि विध्य रक्षसः तपिष्ठैः ॥
तव भ्रमासऽ आशुया पतन्त्यनु स्पृश धृषता शोशुचानः ।
तपूंष्यग्ने जुह्वा पतंगान् सन्दितो विसृज विष्व-गुल्काः ॥
प्रति स्पशो विसृज तूर्णितमो भवा पायु-र्विशोऽ अस्या अदब्धः ।
यो ना दूरेऽ अघशंसो योऽ अन्त्यग्ने माकिष्टे व्यथिरा दधर्षीत् ॥
उदग्ने तिष्ठ प्रत्या-तनुष्व न्यमित्रान् ऽओषतात् तिग्महेते ।
यो नोऽ अरातिम् समिधान चक्रे नीचा तं धक्ष्यत सं न शुष्कम् ॥
ऊर्ध्वो भव प्रति विध्याधि अस्मत् आविः कृणुष्व दैव्यान्यग्ने ।
अव स्थिरा तनुहि यातु-जूनाम् जामिम् अजामिम् प्रमृणीहि शत्रून् ।
अग्नेष्ट्वा तेजसा सादयामि॥

Amavasya Vrat Katha:

धार्मिक मान्यता के अनुसार सोमवती अमावस्या व्रत कथा को इस दिन जरूर पढ़ना चाहिए. सोमवती अमावस्या व्रत कथा के अनुसार, एक गरीब ब्राह्मण परिवार में पति-पत्नी और एक बेटी थी. उनकी बेटी सुंदर, संस्कारवान और गुणवान थी लेकिन गरीब होने के कारण बेटी का विवाह नहीं हो पा रहा था. एक दिन ब्राह्मण के घर साधु आए. साधु ने कन्या के सेवाभाव से प्रसन्न होकर उसे लंबी आयु का आशीर्वाद दिया और कहा कि इस कन्या के हाथ में विवाह का योग्य है ही नहीं. इसके बाद ब्राह्मण पति-पत्नी ने इसका कोई उपाय पूछा तो साधु ने विचारते हुए कहा कि सोना नाम के एक गांव में धोबिन महिला अपने बेटे और बहू के साथ रहती है. वो बहुत ही आचार-विचाक और संस्कारों से परिपूर्णं परिवार है. अगर ये बेटी उस धोबिन की सेवा करती है और वो महिला इसकी शादी में अपने मांग का सिंदूर लगा दे तो इसका विवाह योग्य बन जाएगा. साधु ने बताया कि वो महिला कहीं भी आती-जाती नहीं है.

ब्राह्मण दंपत्ति ने अपनी बेटी से उस धोबिन की सेवा करने को कहा तो अगले दिन बेटी सोना गांव में जाकर उस धोबिन के घर का काम करने लगी. इसके बाद बेटी धोबिन के घर प्रात: काल में जाकर धोबिन के घर का सारा काम करके वापस आ जाती थी. एक दिन धोबिन अपनी बहू से पूछने लगी कि तुम सुबह उठकर सारे काम कर लेती हो पता भी नहीं चलता. तो बहू कहती है कि मां जी मुझे लगा कि वो सारा काम आप करती हैं क्योंकि मैं तो देर से उठती हूं. इसके बाद सास-बहू निगरानी करने लगीं कि आखिर कौन उनके घर का सारा काम करके चली जाती है. कुछ दिनों के बाद धोबिन देखती है कि एक लड़की मुंह ढककर अंधेरे में घर आती है और सारा काम करके चली जाती है. एक दिन धोबिन उस लड़की के पैर पर गिरकर पूछती है आप कौन हैं और इस तरह छिपकर मेरे घर की चाकरी क्यों कर रहीं? इसके बाद लड़की ने साधु की सारी बात उसे सुनाई.

धोबिन पति परायण थी और उसमें तेज था. वह तैयार हुई और अपनी बहू से बोली कि उसके वापस आने तक वो घर पर ही रहे. धोबिन का पति अस्वस्थ रहता था. धोबिन उस ब्राह्मण के परिवार में आई और अपनी मांग का सिंदूर जैसे ही लड़की की मांग में लगाया तो धोबिन का पति मर गया. जैसे ही धोबिन को इस बात का पता चला तो वो निराजल ही अपने घर को चली गई. उसने सोचा कि रास्ते में पीपल का पेड़ मिलेगा तो उसे भंवरी देकर, पेड़ की परिक्रमा करेगी और जल ग्रहण करेगी. मान्याता के अनुसार, उस दिन सोमवती अमावस्या थी. ब्राह्मण परिवार से मिले पकवान की जगह उसने ईंट के टुकड़ों से 108 बार भंवरी दी 108 बार पीपल के पेड़ की परिक्रमा की. इसके बाद धोबिन ने जल ग्रहण किया और ऐसा करते ही उसके पति के मृत शरीर में जान वापस आ गई. धोबिन का पति जीवित हो गया. इसके बाद से महिलाएं सोमवती अमावस्या का व्रत इसलिए रखती हैं कि उनके पति की उम्र लंबी हो जाए. वहीं पितरों को जल और तिल इसलिए देते हैं कि उन्हें मुक्ति मिल जाए.
